About the A Level Physics Exams
There are two A Level Physics Exams: The International A Level Physics Exam and the Domestic A Level Physics Exam. Both the International A Level Physics Exam and the Domestic A Level Physics Exam are known as the second or third most difficult exams out of the 80 total A Level subjects.

In order to earn a high mark on the A Level Physics Exam, you should:
  • Be disciplined.
  • Be organized.
  • Have a plan.
  • Have guidance.

If you choose to take the A Level Physics Exam, here are the steps you must take:

Step 1) Choose whether to take International A Level Physics Exam or the Domestic A Level Physics Exam.

The International A Level Exam
The International A Level Exam is available for all students outside of the UK but is not available for students inside the UK. The International A Level Exam is given to students twice per year in iA Levels are held twice a year in summer and fall.

Domestic A Level Physics Exam
The Domestic A Level Exam is specifically for UK students but is also available to many students outside the UK. The Domestic A Level Physics Exam is given to UK students once per year in May or June.


Step 2) Next, you must choose which exam board to take the exam from.

If you chose the International A Level Exam:

International A Level Physics Exam Boards
The two most popular exam boards are Cambridge International and Pearson (Edexcel).

Cambridge International
The Exam consists of the following:
Three AS Level papers.
Two A Level papers.

Edexcel
The exam consists of the following:
Three AS Level papers.
Three A Level papers.


If you chose the Domestic A Level Exam:

Domestic A Level Physics Exam Boards
The three most popular exam boards are Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA), Oxford, Cambridge, and RSA (OCR), and Pearson (Edexcel).

AQA
The exam consists of the following:
Two AS papers.
Three A Level papers.

OCR
The exam consists of the following:
Two AS papers.
Three A Level papers.

Edexel
The exam consists of the following:
Two AS papers.
Three A Level papers.


If you want a high mark on the A Level physics exam, a typical A Level secondary school physics course will not be good enough. You need to prepare separately for the A Level exam. The A Level Physics exam is its own special challenge.
